Mississippi Farmer-to-Farmer Newsletter
A newsletter for the people who feed Mississippi and the world. Subscribe here.
As the first issue, let me introduce myself: I’m Juan Quinonez Zepeda. After working as a ranch hand since the age of 14 across Mississippi ranches, in 2024, my family and I purchased our own land and began our ranching operation in Senatobia, MS. As a young rancher, I quickly realized the lack of support systems in place to help those looking to transition into agriculture or those who are already veterans in running their operations. From town to town across the state, I realized two important things: WE as farmers already possess what we need to thrive, but we are also ISOLATED from each other.
Thus, with support from various mentors, organizations, and funding from the Incite Institute at Columbia University. I am delighted to launch Mississippi’s first Farmer-to-Farmer newsletter. This newsletter is curated BY a farmer FOR farmers with a simple goal: connect real Mississippi farmers with events, information, opportunities, and other resources. It’s a space for you to SHARE what you have to offer and let hundreds of farmers across the state see it and engage with it.
As always, this newsletter is built by farmers, for farmers. If you have a story, an opportunity, or news to share, reply to this email or connect through Substack. Please share this newsletter with any organization, farmer, agency, or any other entity you see that could benefit and have something to contribute.
We are planting a seed, and I can’t wait to see what we harvest!
