Writing & Speaking Engagements
Juan’s scholarly research and public talks examine the South’s historical and ongoing reliance on immigrant labor, the contributions of Latinx workers and producers, and documents transnational tacit knowledge in agriculture. He focuses on Latinx immigrants’ contributions beyond the soil, and how they shape the cultural and economic fabric of our rural towns and regions, even amid legal, economic, and social systems deeply rooted in the South that benefit from keeping farmworkers, our communities, and our food in limbo.
